Self-Supported Race
---
CapitalTrails Race Series - ASOLA is a full-on self-supported adventure! You bring your own gear, fuel, hydration, tech - and anything else you think you might need - it's a 100% BYO party.
There will be NO on-route support for anything (no aid stations, no water supply, no route markings, no start-line Zumba, no finish-line feasts) and you’ll be responsible for your own success or failure in the race. We'll only be sharing a most accurate GPX file/version of the route and will have our volunteers at select checkpoints along the route.
Mandatory Gear Requirements
---
Our gear checklist might (not) seem like a lot, but this is essential loot and will need strict adherence. We will be doing gear-checks and will be checking for the following items. We don't care how you carry them - we just care that you do. And if you don't, then your participation will be cancelled on the spot and you'll be required to volunteer with us for the event!
- Water/Hydration: Carry the hydration power of a thousand desert camels! Okay, maybe not that much, but enough to quench your thirst throughout the entire race. We recommend at least 2L of water and electrolyte mix (combined) if you’re opting for the long distance. For the short one, you should carry at least 1L. And ensure you have a lot more in your cars/cabs for before and after the race.
- Nutrition and Fuel: The wall is a great album by Pink Floyd, and a not-so-great structure in forests. Moreover, it’s something you don’t want to hit while racing. So stock up on your energy-packed goodies (gels, candy, nuts, whatever gives you that carb rush) to keep those legs moving.
- Mobile Phone: Not to take selfies (although we love them too), but to use for navigation and scanning those checkpoint QR codes! And while at it, make sure your batteries are fully charged before starting the race.
- Downloaded .gpx File: There will be no route markings, so you’ll be entirely navigating using the .gpx files that will be shared with you. Keep them on your phones (Gaia, Footpath, Strava, Garmin Connect or any other app that can load .gpx files on a map) or load them on your watches, just make sure you follow the route rather than the runner in front of you.
- Webscorer App: This is mandatory for tracking checkpoints and QR codes. You should have the app downloaded before the gear-check, so that you don't end up jeopardising your potential timings by causing delays due to last-minute app downloads. It'll be good to not bother the internet Gods at race start.
Checkpoint Volunteers and QR Code Scanning
---
CapitalTrails Race Series - ASOLA will not have any route markings - we don’t want to leave anything other than footprints. Our trusty volunteers will be there to cheer you on and scan your progress. They'll be carrying QR codes which you’ll be required to scan using your phones. Your finish timing will be valid only if all checkpoint QR codes have been scanned in the correct order.
QR code tracking will be done via the Webscorer mobile app, which is also where you'll get your results and timings.
Final Results
---
The timing data for CapitalTrails Race Series - ASOLA will be normalised for age and gender to ensure a fair chance of 'winning' for everyone. This essentially means that you have a chance to win the event if you didn't finish first, second or third!
Trail Running Etiquette
---
Don't forget your trail manners and keep the trail karma in check:
- Share the Trail Love: Say hello and share a smile with fellow runners and hikers you encounter along the way. High-fives are optional but highly encouraged!
- Leave No Trace: Only footprints in the mud alllowed. Anyone found littering will be disqualified from the race immediately.
- No Disturbing Wildlife: They're just there to chill and maybe to spectate your trailblazing performance. But they won't be carrying cameras, so no point even looking in their direction. But yes, be watchful and don't have them start chasing you - you don't want to race them!
- Camaraderie before Competition: Be respectful of the other runners. We're all part of one tribe and tribes act united. If anyone is found acting in un-sporting manner to other participants, there will be immediate disqualification. You all know what un-sporting is.
- Embrace the Adventure: It's a trail race, not a catwalk. Embrace the untamed, the unexpected, and the unapologetically muddy.
Safety Measures
---
Though our trail race is an adventure of epic proportions, we've got your safety in mind. Our team is certified to give first aid in the wilderness and will be carrying an emergency medical kit.
Cancellations
---
We understand that life can be as unpredictable as trail running itself. Here's our cancellations policy for CapitalTrails Race Series - ASOLA, designed to keep things fair and flexible:
- 100% Transfer Policy: If you decide to cancel your participation in the race and inform us at least one week (seven days) before the event date, we've got your back! You will be eligible to transfer your registration to another CapitalTrails race within 12 months of your registration date, no questions asked. Sometimes life takes unexpected turns, and we get it!
- No Refund Policy: For any cancellations made less than one week (seven days) before the event, we won't be able to issue a refund or do a transfer. Don't worry, though; your registration fee will still be put to good use, ensuring a seamless and epic experience for all the other adventurous souls on the trail.
We want everyone to have the best possible trail running experience, and our cancellaton policy is designed to balance fairness and logistical considerations - though, full disclosure, the ‘no refund policy’ is just to ensure that the organisers’ and volunteers’ time commitments are respected. This policy applies to all participants, regardless of the chosen race distance.
In the rare event that we need to cancel CapitalTrails Race Series - ASOLA due to unforeseen circumstances (we hope we never have to!), we'll either transfer your registration to the next event in the series within a period of 12 months.

A detailed race briefing will be done online at a date that will be communicated to all registered participants closer to race day. We will do our best to ensure that all important bits are communicated to you clearly.
