The Race:
10km route
The race is all trail, taking in forest tracks, farmland and woods. The route will be marked on the day and race marshals will be present. Starting at Methlick cricket pitch, the route circles the pitch before heading upriver on the forest trail. The route passes through Polesburn woods, then alongside open meadow after about 3km. The route then passes through more woodland before veering left and climbing out of the valley and heading up to the farm buildings at the high point. The route passes the back of a steading and then onto a ridge, with fantastic views of the scenic Ythan Valley with the ruins of Gight Castle on the other side. The route on the ridge is undulating before a steep descent back into the valley floor. The route rejoins the outgoing path back through the Polesburn woods to the village and cricket pitch, with a final circuit of the cricket pitch before the finish line.
There will not be water stops on route, so please carry your own hydration if required. Refreshments will be provided at the finish.
3km route
Start at Methlick Cricket pitch, heading out on the forest track (Gight Path) and then back again. The turning point will be marked. There will be marshals on the course and a sweeper following at the rear.
