GROUP A NOTES
Group A will race five stages on challenging terrain and is intended for Pro and Expert riders. The race could require ~5,000 feet of climbing. Any Hatchery Ridge trails could be selected as part of a stage. The race map will be released approximately 2 weeks prior to the event.
The Race Webpage is the official method of communication, please check back regularly for updates.
During registration, you will select your gender and category (pro, expert, hardtail, or eMTB). Once we have a complete registration pool, we will subdivide the expert category into age groups; the remainder of the categories will not be subdivided. Experts, you will be notified of your resulting category once this is complete.
Last year Group A had 13.4% female racers, but we know we can do better and this year we are setting our sights on at least 33%. We have adjusted the registration approach to help achieve this goal, as described below.
On race day, we hope to have at least 120 Group A racers. When registration opens, male registrations will be limited to 80 entries across all categories. Female categories (except eMTB, see below) will be unlimited unless we approach the 120 total racers prior to the male quota being reached. Once we have reached 120 racers, we will cap all genders and categories. Once capped, individuals are encouraged to continue to register for the waitlist (no fee).
If the 33% goal has not been reached within a reasonable amount of time, we will adjust the male entry quota to allow more male registrations. If a male waitlist has been started, we will first invite racers from the waitlist to register. This will continue until we reach at least 120 racers. All invites will be valid for 48 hours.
We have made other adjustments to the registration this year including the addition of the Hardtail category! And, although we love our eMTB friends and family, we would like this to be an acoustic event, primarily, and this year the Group A eMTB category will be limited to 10 male and 10 female racers (unless the gender quotas or the total number of racers has already been met).
Besides the race, the entry fee gets you access to three Friday practice shuttles, a swag bag, a meal ticket and two drink tickets at the post-race awards party. This year’s party is not to be missed!
See the Race Webpage for more information about free camping, spectator maps, and race updates.
