Handicap Race Open Handicap - 71km NOTE: this race is restricted to U19 riders and above U15/17 - 36km U13 - 16km Relevant equipment regulations apply - under new rules, there are no gear restrictions or rollouts for any riders.

 

For Senior Riders requiring a lift to Gore for the start of the Open Race with their bikes their is the option to book a seat on the prearranged bus. Please ensure you select this prior to checkout. 

 

Entry Fee: Open Handicap = $30.00 until  13th January at 8pm, then $35 until entries close 16 January at 7pm. Juniors in the Junior Classic = $20.00 until 13th January at 8pm, then $25 until entries close 16 January at 7pm. 71km Classic starts from Gore Town and Country Club at 9:00am, with registration at 9:30am.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. Acceptance of Conditions 1.1. For the well being of all entrants, and of the event, all entrants must accept and comply with all event conditions. 1.2. Entrants agree to take part in this event at their own risk and in doing so absolve the organizers of any liability. 2. Route Variation 2.1. Cycling Southland reserves the right to vary the route or format of any of the Events without notice, should anysituation requiring such action arise. 3. Expected Behaviour 3.1. This is a communal event, and as such it is expected that entrants will conduct themselves in a manner which reflects well upon themselves and Cycling Southland. It is expected that entrants will show respect towards all riders, event officials, marshals and volunteers. A belief in what a reasonable person would find offensive or dangerous will guide the organisers’ decision making. 4. Preparation and Training 4.1. It is each entrant’s responsibility to ensure that they have adequately prepared themselves physically for their selected Event. If you have any health issues or doubts about your health you should seek medical advice. 4.2. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that their bicycle, helmet and any other equipment used in the event are in road-worthy condition. 5. Event Information 5.1. The event organisers publish a number of documents, in the form of information sheets and on the Cycling Southland website. The organisers will make every effort to ensure that each entrant receives all relevant information, but does not guarantee that each individual will receive all relevant information. It is each entrant’s responsibility to be informed and read all information made available. Each entrant will accept that all instructions, whether written or verbal, are clear and unambiguous. 6. Safety 6.1. Entrants must obey the road rules and, in particular, must stay to the left of the centre line. Even where there is a controlled traffic zone, entrants acknowledge that there is no guarantee that other members of the public will necessarily respect any road closure or obey the road rules. Entrants must comply with all directions of event officials, marshals and security personnel and with all event signage. 6.2. Each entrant must accept that despite the best efforts of the organisers to make the event as safe as they can, the organisers cannot control everything. 7. Legal Issues 7.1. Any entrant involved in an accident will not seek to blame or make a claim against the organisers or assist anyone else in making a claim. 7.2. Each entrant will release the organisers, their officers, volunteers, employees, sponsors or any party associated with the event of any liability, financial or otherwise, for any direct or indirect loss, injury or death which might be sustained from any intended or actual participation in this event or its related activities. 7.3. Any legal action related to the event will be taken in New Zealand courts under New Zealand law. 8. Photography 8.1. Entrants must accept that they may be photographed or filmed during the event, and must agree to the creation and use of such footage for future promotions and publicity of the event. 9. Transfers, Cancellations and Refunds Policy 9.1. In the event of a change of route, cancellation of the event due to any act beyond the power of the organisers, or dissatisfaction, the organisers are under no obligation to refund fees paid. 9.2. There will be no fee refunds for non-use of entry however fees may be transferred to future events. 9.3. Transfers of entry within the same category may be made free of charge up until one week prior to the event starting. This can be done by contacting Cycling Southland on 03 219 9325 or via email at office@cyclingsouth.org.nz. 10. Disqualification from the Event 10.1. Any entrant who, in the opinion of the organisers, fails to comply with these event conditions may be disqualified from the event. Disqualification will result in the offender’s name being completely removed from the event database, including from any prize draws, and may result in a refusal, by the event organisers, to accept entry to future Cycling Southland events. No refund will be granted. 11. Prizes 11.1. All major prize winners may be required to provide proof of their identity. 12. Signing on behalf of others 12.1 If you are completing this Entry on behalf of others or on behalf of minors, then you must have them read these Terms and Conditions and obtain their permission (also in the case of a minor, their caregiver) to complete this entry on their behalf. By making the below Declaration, you will be deemed to be also making it on behalf of those persons and with their authority and they will be bound by these Terms and Conditions as if they had personally signed the Declaration. 12.2 These terms and conditions are binding on entrants’ relatives, personal representatives, heirs and successors.
