Welcome to 2023 State Marathon Championships
Race Day Schedule

• Check-in: 08.00
• Brief: 08.45
• Start: 09.00

Racer Preparation:
• Ensure number vertical on boat [some holders available for $15 at rego]
• Check number of laps & portages
• Drink enough water before & during, cover unclothed bits with sun block

Main Course
• See map
• Put in at beach downstream, keep portage area clear
• Start in line with timing tent
• Finish round half lap & back through 2 buoys in line w timing tent
• Can go through finish line buoys at start, afterwards pass to side.
• If some not started when returning, go either side of start
• Late starters leave room either side for paddlers on course
• Go to right of buoys at corner on right on way up
• No portage on first lap. Sign at start of portage. Feeding on right
• Half lap at end. Count main laps [get help or use GPS]
• Go either side of finish line buoys [not through] during race
• Missing a buoy or go through finish line = 15sec penalty [box]
• Check pt Marshalls at turn points

Stay for Medals, Trophies, Food !:
• Will do as soon after as possible
• Must have one or more paddlers behind to qualify for medal, except 65+ and U18
• Additional 5yr interval brackets created where numbers justified
• Enjoy pre-ordered burger after

Rules & Courtesy:
• Wash riding only own grid, 30sec penalty
• ICF #1: Overtaking boat must keep clear
• ICF #2: All paddlers duty bound to avoid collisions
• Do not instruct paddlers in front to deviate, can warn only
• Do not disrupt paddlers approached from behind
• 30s penalties to be applied for transgressions
• Go to right when facing on-coming traffic
• Non-portagers give room to portagers re-entering water
• Assist paddlers in trouble, time allowance if you do
• Keep clear of and quiet near Timing Tent
