The Washington's Crossing is a swim across the Potomac River beginning at National Harbor, Md to the center portion of the river parallel to the Wilson Bridge. The course is 1.25 miles and can be swum twice for a 2.5 mile total swim.
THE SWIM
Two distances are available, single crossing to the mid point of the river, at 1.25 miles, and the double crossing, at 2.5 miles described above. Meet at the North Cove/Commercial Pier at National Harbor, MD 20745. Check in opens at 7:00AM. The 2.5 mile wave will meet at 7:45 AM for the safety briefing and start upon its conclusion. The 1.25 mile wave will meet at 8:00AM for the safety briefing and start upon its conclusion. The water temperature range is 72-78F. Wetsuits will be allowed up to 82F. The swim will occur during an outcoming low tide which translates to a downstream cross current.
SUPPORT
Chase boats will provide support for the govrnmental agencies for the perimeter of the swim course. Life guards in kayakers will provide additional swimmer support.
All ages are welcome. You must be a competent open water swimmer to enter this event.
