RUN SAYSUTSHUN
Saysutshun: Means 'training for running' and refers to the special places where runners, canoe paddlers or warriors would bathe to cleanse themselves before a race or battle. The VI ENDURANCE running family invites you to join us in a weekend of non stop running around the beautiful island Saysutshun (Newcastle) in Nanaimo BC. With 5 different events held over a 24hr period there is a race here for all runners. Loops run just shy of 10kms and follow the perimeter of the island, with the ocean on one side and forest on the other you won't find a better location for a loop style ultra. Come for the day, or book a campsite on the island and stay for the weekend. Bring your friends and family and trade running tales by the campfire.
CAMPING/FERRY
A group site is booked, runners and their crew are free to stay as part of registration. Make sure to check the passenger ferry schedule so that you arrive on time for your event. Be sure to use the online portal to book a spot on the ferry ahead of time. All park information can be found at www.Newcastleisland.ca

AID STATION
We will have an aid station set up at the start/finish line in the group site, it will be stocked with all of the typical ultra running food and drink. Perogies, cheese quesadillas, bacon, soup, broth, gels, chips, baked goodies, aswell as water, pop, Gatorade mix, coffee, Tea, warm broth, ect. Please bring anything specific you want or need.
THE COURSE
The loop that follows the perimeter of the island is nothing short of stunning, runners will do as many loops as they can in their given time frame or distance. Once runners near the end of their allotted time a short 1km loop through the campground is where the final laps will happen. This small loop gives runners an oportunity to maximize distance and not risk getting timed out on course. If you do not finish your last big loop before your time expires you will not be given credit for that distance.
RACOONS
BE WARNED!! Saysutshun is the home to what seems like an army of Raccoons, they are crafty little creatures and if your food is not locked up tight they will find a way to steal it. Do not leave any food waste, wrappers, leftovers ect. Laying around your area they will steal it. A Tupperware container is not sufficient, they will grab it and be gone before you know it.
