Important UPDATE Braunton 10 mile route!!
For those of you that are local and have been out on the 10-mile course you would have noticed the very large lake that has formed between Ashford and Windy Cross. We have been in communication with Highways about this and there is a push to have it sorted, but in the (reasonably) likely event that this is not done in time we have a plan B…..
We have plotted an alternative route that is just a smidge under 10 miles (9.9), still incorporates Pippacott hill (we know you love it) and has a similar elevation gain as the normal route. The modified route is basically the 10km route with an extra loop around Pippacott in the middle. We will move the second water station back to Whitewall so you can grab some water before rejoining the 10 km route and heading up the hill. It is likely that there will still be a few muddy puddles, but hopefully ones that you can run through without needing arm bands!
We will do a course inspection next weekend (18th-19th Jan) and make the final call on which route we are using. Competitors will be notified in the final instructions, and we will post on social media as much as possible. Fingers crossed this is just for this year as apparently the council have a cunning plan to stop this happening again….

General Race Information:
The Braunton 10, is one of NDRR's oldest and most popular races. The main race is the Alby Tithecott Memorial Run and is a 10 mile road race, with 2 infamous climbs, designed to test the legs and spirit! Introduced in 2017, the 10K Steph Irwin Memorial Run provides some similar challenges, and retains the overall feel of the original course. The race takes place pretty much regardless of the weather, (those who ran in 2018 will remember the flood near the finish), so please ensure that you are adequately prepared. There are water stations on the course, distance markers and it is well-signed, with marshals at key points. CLICK HERE FOR AN INTERACTIVE MAP INSTRUCTIONS FOR BRAUNTON 10 RACE ENTRANTS
