Single Speed Mystery Event

International Single Speed day is on the 2nd November 2023 and to honour this DORC will be conducting a Mystery Single Speed Event on 5 Nov 2023. How does this work? Well it's a mystery to us too! We are sure it will be fun!

One thing we do know is that you don't need a single speed bike to participate. As long as your bike is stuck in one gear, you are good to go! You can use an angle grinder, drill or a hammer to set that pesky deraillier in one position. Less harmful methods could include cable ties or gaffer tape on your shifters. Ideally a gear ratio in the vicinity of 1:2 will work well in the Pine Forest. That equates to something like a 32 tooth chainring on the front and a 16 tooth sprocket on the rear. We don't recommend going much harder than that. Have a play around and find something that works for you. One thing is guaranteed and that is you will be in the wrong gear everywhere! : )

This event will start at 8:00am Sunday morning 5 November 2023. Please arrive by 7:30am for the riders brief, etc. Parking and Meeting point will be on the corner of Howard springs road, opposite the exit leading to Howard Springs reserve.
