Second time ever down RMAD. I had hoped to do some practice runs, but that never happened, so this was my 2nd time down RMAD. First time on my new bike.
Last time I did 10m:57s, and my goal was to beat that by 10% (9m:51s). They warned us that the trail might be a little slippery in a few spots and said we probably wouldn't beat our time from June 17, but I did it in 8m:28s! Beat my last time by 23%! HECK YEAH!!!
Rear wheel skipped off a number of rocks/roots/etc, and there were probably a half-dozen times when something would happen and I'd put a foot down. Once or twice, it was sorta awkward to get going again, but it worked out. No wrong turns, no crashes, and I beat my goal handily. Got 4th place in my weight class (out of the 5 who showed up) and 43rd overall out of 50. Nothing stellar in an objective sense, but it's a huge win in my book!
